In compliance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255 "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising," SpecPicks discloses the following commercial relationships.

Amazon Associates

SpecPicks.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Every Amazon link on SpecPicks carries the same associate tag:

  • tag=specpicks-20 — catalog, buying guides, articles, comparisons, product pages and deals

eBay Partner Network

SpecPicks is a member of the eBay Partner Network (EPN). When you click an eBay link on this site and complete a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission. Every eBay link carries our EPN campaign identifier in the URL query string — you can verify attribution by inspecting the URL for these parameters:

  • mkevt=1 — marketing event flag
  • mkcid=1 — marketing channel ID (1 = EPN)
  • mkrid=711-53200-19255-0 — eBay’s US rotation ID (shared by all publishers, not specific to us)
  • campid=5339150432 — the SpecPicks EPN campaign ID; this is the parameter that attributes the click to us
  • toolid=10001 — link-generation tool ID

Other affiliate relationships

From time to time SpecPicks may link to merchants through additional affiliate programs (Newegg, B&H Photo, GameStop, retro-specialist retailers). These links follow the same rules: commission at no extra cost to you, and the relationship is disclosed.

No extra cost to you

Affiliate links never change the price you pay. Commissions are paid by the retailer out of their margin, not added to your order.

What "sponsored" means on SpecPicks

Outbound affiliate links carry the HTML attributes rel="noopener noreferrer sponsored nofollow" so search engines and browsers know the link is commercial. We do not accept paid-for-placement on category pages or buying guides — rankings are determined by our published scoring algorithm.

Sponsored content

If an article is sponsored, paid, or gifted, we will mark it prominently at the top of the page with a “Sponsored” badge. Without that badge, category-page and buying-guide rankings are determined algorithmically from the public catalog using our published scoring methodology. Editor’s Picks and homepage featured slots are chosen editorially from a curated set of about 95 products, based on what readers are researching and not on commission rate (see methodology section 1). Editorial content is synthesis of public benchmarks and manufacturer specs, not first-party testing, except SpecPicks Retro Lab reports (tagged specpicks-lab), which are first-party measurements on our own period hardware and publish their raw data and file hashes — see our methodology.

Amazon, eBay, and our analytics providers (Google Analytics 4) set cookies to measure conversions and visits. Our Privacy Policy explains what's collected and how you can opt out.
