Manufacturer description
The AMEROUS Magnetic Wooden Chess Set solves the problem every travel chess player knows: pieces sliding off the board the moment the table moves. Magnetic chessmen hold their squares on a train tray, a back porch, or a bumpy car ride, so a paused game stays exactly where you left it. The 15-inch board folds shut into a case, and individual storage slots inside give every piece a home, which keeps the set organized between sessions instead of scattered in a bag. Each piece is handcrafted from wood with a smoothed surface that dampens the click of a move and resists scratching over repeated…
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored AMEROUS Magnetic Wooden Chess Set using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the tabletop & card games category. AMEROUS's tabletop & card games lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for tabletop & card games of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Frequently Asked Questions
Will the chess pieces stay on the board in a car or on a plane?
Yes. The pieces are magnetic and grip the board, which AMEROUS designed specifically so pieces are not lost during travel or outdoor play. The board also folds closed with the pieces in their storage slots.
How big is the board, and is it big enough for adults?
The board measures 15 inches across when unfolded. That is a comfortable size for adults and kids at home or on the road, though it is smaller than the 19-20 inch boards used in tournament play.
Where do the pieces go when I fold it up?
The board has individual slots inside for storing each chess piece, so everything stays organized and in place when the board folds shut. No separate bag is needed.
Why does it come with two extra queens?
The set includes 2 bonus extra queens so you can promote a pawn without borrowing a rook or pausing the game. That is one extra queen per side beyond the standard 32 pieces.
What is the return policy if I do not like it?
AMEROUS states a 100% money-back policy within 365 days of purchase if you are not satisfied for any reason. Check the product listing for current return and warranty terms before ordering.
