The all-aluminum body resists scratches, and the maker says it helps the drive run cool and quiet during long copy jobs. The drive connects over USB 3.0, which is rated for up to 5 Gbit/s. It still works on USB 2.0 ports, just at the slower USB 2.0 speed. It is plug and play and draws power from the USB port, so you don't need a power adapter or any software.
