Pros & Cons
Pros
- ✓ Flat 0.11in profile runs under baseboards and around corners without tangling
- ✓ S/FTP shielding on 4 twisted copper pairs cuts EMI/RFI on long runs
- ✓ 24K gold-plated RJ45 contacts resist corrosion over time
- ✓ UV-resistant PVC jacket rated for direct sun, cold, heat, and humidity
Cons
- ✗ Cat8's 2000MHz/40Gbps ceiling is wasted on typical 1Gbps home gear
- ✗ Flat cable is harder to terminate or re-end than round bulk cable
- ✗ PVC jacket is not a direct-burial or in-wall CMR/CMX rated cable
- ✗ No shield-grounding info given, so S/FTP benefit depends on your ports
Manufacturer description
The Qiuean Cat8 Ethernet Cable in the 25 ft length is built for people who need a long run without the bulk of round cable. At just 0.11 inches thick, the flat jacket tucks under baseboards, along wall edges, and around corners instead of coiling into a tangle behind your desk. Inside, four pairs of shielded twisted copper (S/FTP) cut EMI and RFI interference, and the 24K gold-plated RJ45 connectors resist corrosion so the link stays clean over years of use. Qiuean rates the cable at 2000MHz and 40Gbps, ahead of Cat7, Cat6, and Cat5e, and the PVC jacket is UV resistant and weatherproof for…
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored Qiuean Ethernet Cable 25 FT using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the retro networking cards category. Qiuean's retro networking cards lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for retro networking cards of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Frequently Asked Questions
Will this Cat8 cable make my home internet faster?
No. The cable supports up to 2000MHz and 40Gbps, but your actual speed is capped by your ISP plan and your router or switch ports. Cat8 gives you headroom, not extra bandwidth from your provider.
Can I run this cable outside?
Yes for exposed outdoor runs. Qiuean specifies a weatherproof, UV-resistant PVC jacket that handles direct sunlight plus extreme cold, heat, and humidity. It is not described as direct-burial rated, so do not bury it underground.
How thick is it, and will it fit under a rug or baseboard?
The flat jacket is 0.11 inches thick, which is why it sits flush along walls, corners, and edges instead of bunching. That profile is what makes a 25 ft run manageable indoors.
Is it backward compatible with my older router?
Yes. It uses standard RJ45 connectors and works with Cat7, Cat6, Cat5e, and Cat5 gear, including routers, modems, switches, patch panels, smart TVs, and PS4 or Xbox consoles.
Is it actually shielded, or just labeled Cat8?
It is built as S/FTP with four 100 percent shielded twisted pairs of copper to reduce EMI and RFI interference, plus 24K gold-plated connectors.
