Pros & Cons

Pros

  • ✓ 500GB SATA II 3.5in drive rated for 24/7 operation, built for CCTV DVR and NAS duty
  • ✓ 5900RPM spindle runs cooler and quieter than 7200RPM drives in retro builds
  • ✓ Perpendicular recording tuned for smooth video streaming, not burst benchmarks
  • ✓ Re-certified with a sector-by-sector scan; seller states zero bad sectors

Cons

  • ✗ 5900RPM and SATA II 3.0Gb/s cap throughput well below any modern SSD
  • ✗ Listing contradicts itself on cache: title says 8MB, features claim 16MB
  • ✗ Renewed unit, so prior runtime hours are unknown at purchase
  • ✗ 500GB is tight for long-retention DVR footage or a general NAS pool
