Manufacturer description
The QR2 Wheel-Side is a motorsport-derived quick release made entirely from aluminum. Originally developed by Fanatec for the 2022 BMW M4 GT3 race car, the QR2 system was refined for the demands of sim racing. Its tapered, self-aligning design with spring-loaded locking pins ensures a secure fit between the steering wheel and base. By pushing the wheel onto the base shaft, the QR simply clicks into place. The Fanatec QR2 system transfers power and data from a Fanatec base to a Fanatec wheel securely, while being easy to remove and attach. Wheels can be hot swapped, with no need to restart…
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored Corsair FANATEC Sim Racing QR2 Wheel-Side using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the sim racing category. Fanatec's sim racing lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for sim racing of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent.
