Pros & Cons
Pros
- ✓ Rated for 40Gbps and 2000MHz bandwidth, 4x the frequency ceiling of Cat6a
- ✓ STP shielding cuts crosstalk in dense cable bundles behind racks
- ✓ Nylon braid resists dirt and abrasion better than smooth PVC jackets
- ✓ Velcro cable tie included in the box
Cons
- ✗ 6.5ft is short for anything beyond a desk-to-router or console-to-switch run
- ✗ Cat8 bandwidth is wasted unless both endpoints are multi-gig
- ✗ Braided jacket is stiffer and coils less neatly than a flat cable
- ✗ Cat8 is specified for runs up to 30m, so the 50-100ft options push the limit
Manufacturer description
The Cat8 specification here supports bandwidth up to 2000MHz, which is four times the 500MHz ceiling of Cat6a, so the cable will not be the bottleneck on a multi-gig switch, NAS link, or fiber-fed router. Shielded twisted pair (STP) construction wraps the conductors to cut crosstalk in crowded cable runs behind a rack or entertainment center, and the gold-plated RJ45 plugs resist corrosion at the contact point. Braiding resists dirt and scuffing better than smooth PVC, and it survives being pulled around desk legs. The universal RJ45 connector plugs into whatever you own: Wi-Fi router…
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored DanYee Cat 8 Ethernet Cable using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the networking category. DanYee's networking lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for networking of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Prices and stock are set by the retailer and may have moved since this page was last updated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this Cat 8 cable make my internet faster?
Only if your equipment was the limit. The cable supports up to 40Gbps and 2000MHz, but your actual speed is capped by your ISP plan and the ports on your router and device. It removes the cable as a bottleneck; it does not raise your plan speed.
Is 6.5ft long enough to reach my router?
6.5ft covers a desk-to-router, console-to-switch, or modem-to-router hop. If you are crossing a room, DanYee sells the same cable in 3ft, 10ft, 16ft, 26ft, 33ft, 50ft, 66ft, and 100ft.
What devices can I plug this into?
Anything with a standard RJ45 port. DanYee lists Wi-Fi routers, modems, printers, switch boxes, Xbox, PS2, PS3, and PS4. Cat8 is backward compatible, so it works in Cat5e and Cat6 ports at those ports' speeds.
Is the braided jacket actually more durable?
The nylon braid is designed to resist dirt and surface abrasion, which matters for cables that get pulled along the floor or around desk legs. It also makes the cable stiffer than a smooth PVC or flat cable, so it holds less tightly to a 90-degree corner.
Does it come with a warranty?
DanYee states it supplies lifetime free customer service on its products. For current warranty terms and return coverage, check the product listing before you order.
