Manufacturer description

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 smart glasses put a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, five microphones, and open-ear speakers into the classic Wayfarer frame in Shiny Black with green lenses. You capture photos and video from your own point of view with a hands-free press or voice command, then livestream straight to Facebook or Instagram without pulling out your phone. The open-ear speakers keep music, podcasts, and calls audible while you still hear traffic, coworkers, and conversation around you. Built-in Meta AI answers questions about what you are looking at, and live translation works between English…

SpecPicks Verdict

SpecPicks scored Ray-Ban Meta using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the home & kitchen category. Meta's home & kitchen lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.

Common buyer scenarios for home & kitchen of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Prices and stock are set by the retailer and may have moved since this page was last updated.

Frequently Asked Questions

How good is the camera on the Ray-Ban Meta glasses?

It is a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor paired with a five-microphone system, so photos and video capture your point of view with the audio around you. You can also livestream that feed to Facebook or Instagram.

Can I hear what is going on around me while listening to music?

Yes. These use discreet open-ear speakers rather than in-ear buds, so music and calls play without blocking ambient noise or nearby conversation.

Does the translation feature need an internet connection?

No. Live translation runs between English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, and Portuguese with no wifi needed, and Meta continues adding languages.

What can Meta AI actually do on these glasses?

Once activated, Meta AI can analyze your surroundings and give context-rich suggestions and answers about what you are seeing, all hands-free through the glasses.

Can other people tell when I am recording, and can I turn the mic off?

Meta includes privacy controls: you can enable or disable voice commands at any time and manage other privacy preferences in settings. Check the product listing for the current recording-indicator details.
