Manufacturer description
Read speeds reach up to 130MB/s, which PNY rates at up to 10x faster than a standard USB 2.0 stick, so moving an HD video file or a folder of high-resolution photos finishes in a fraction of the time you would spend on an older drive. The sliding collar cap is the practical detail here: there is no separate cap to lose in a laptop bag, and the connector stays covered when the drive is not plugged in. Compatibility is broad, covering most Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.0 ports on Mac and Windows laptops and desktops, with backwards compatibility to USB 2.0 ports on older machines. If you hand…
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored PNY 32GB Attaché X USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive 5-Pack using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the PC & gaming hardware category. PNY's PC & gaming hardware lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for PC & gaming hardware of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Frequently Asked Questions
How much storage do you get in total?
Five drives at 32GB each, so 160GB total, but split across five separate sticks rather than one volume. Each drive mounts on its own.
How fast is the PNY Attache X?
PNY rates read speeds at up to 130MB/s, which it describes as up to 10x faster than a standard USB 2.0 flash drive. Write speed is not published in the product listing.
Will it work with a Mac?
Yes. PNY lists compatibility with most Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 3.0 Mac and PC laptops and desktops. Modern MacBooks with only USB-C ports will need a Type-A adapter or hub.
Does it work in an older USB 2.0 port?
Yes, it is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, though you will get USB 2.0 speeds rather than the rated 130MB/s in that case.
Is there a cap that can get lost?
No. The Attache X uses a sliding collar design that retracts the connector into the body, so nothing detaches. The collar covers the contacts when the drive is not in use.
