Pros & Cons

Pros

  • ✓ 40Gbps and 2000MHz rating - 4x the speed of Cat 7
  • ✓ S/FTP shielding on all 4 twisted pairs blocks crosstalk
  • ✓ Flat braided jacket routes under carpet and around corners
  • ✓ Rated for 15,000+ bend cycles per Snowkids testing

Cons

  • ✗ 6.6 ft only - too short for cross-room router runs
  • ✗ 40Gbps is wasted on typical 1G home routers and NICs

Manufacturer description

The Snowkids Cat 8 Ethernet Cable delivers 40Gbps throughput and 2000MHz bandwidth in a 6.6-foot flat run, which is four times the data rate and roughly three times the bandwidth of a Cat 7 cable. That headroom matters if you are hardwiring a gaming PC, PS-4, Xbox, NAS, or 2.5G router and want the connection to outlast your current switch. Construction is S/FTP: four foiled twisted pairs of copper shielded against crosstalk and electrical noise, terminated in 24K gold-plated RJ45 connectors that resist corrosion at the contact point. The flat nylon-braided jacket is the practical selling…

SpecPicks Verdict

SpecPicks scored Snowkids Cat 8 Ethernet Cable 6.6 FT using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the networking category. Snowkids's networking lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.

Common buyer scenarios for networking of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Frequently Asked Questions

Is a Cat 8 cable worth it if my internet is only 1 Gbps?

Not for internet speed - your router caps you at 1Gbps regardless. It pays off for local transfers between a PC and NAS or server, where the 40Gbps and 2000MHz rating gives you headroom when you upgrade switches.

Will this work with my PS-4, Xbox, or older router?

Yes. It is backward compatible with Cat 7, Cat 6e, Cat 6, Cat 5e, and Cat 5, and Snowkids lists PS-4, Xbox, modems, ADSL, switches, IP cameras, printers, NAS, patch panels, and TVs as supported RJ45 devices.

How long is this cable?

6.6 feet (about 2 meters). That suits a desk-to-wall-jack or console-to-router run in the same room; measure your path first if the router sits in another room.

Can I run this under a carpet or along the floor?

Yes - the flat nylon-braided design is built for embedded runs under carpets and along floors, and it flexes around corners. It is not rated for in-wall installation.

How durable are the connectors and jacket?

The RJ45 ends use 24K gold plating for corrosion resistance, and the double-layer braided jacket passed more than 15,000 bending tests according to Snowkids. Check the product listing for current warranty terms.
