Pros & Cons

Pros

✓ 40Gbps and 2000MHz bandwidth ceiling, well ahead of Cat7, Cat6, and Cat5 runs
✓ Eleven lengths from 3FT to 100FT, so you buy the run you need without slack
✓ Flat profile slides under carpet and door gaps where round cable bunches
✓ Nylon braided jacket rated for at least 10,000 bends

Cons

✗ Shielded indoor rating only, so it is not a buried or outdoor-run cable
✗ Flat cable is harder to seat in round cable clips and split loom
✗ 40Gbps ceiling is wasted on the 1Gbps ports most routers and consoles ship with
✗ Braided jacket adds friction when fishing the cable through conduit

Manufacturer description

It ships in eleven lengths, from a 3FT patch run between a router and a switch all the way out to a 100FT whole-house pull, so you can match the cable to the room instead of coiling up slack behind the TV. The flat profile is the practical argument here. A round cable fights you under a rug or in a door jamb; this one lies down and stays put, and the nylon braided jacket takes the abrasion that comes with running a line along a baseboard. Ximhun rates the braid for at least 10,000 bends, so pulling it up and re-routing it after a desk rearrangement is not a one-time-use proposition…

SpecPicks Verdict

SpecPicks scored Ximhun Cat 8 Ethernet Cables 3FT using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the retro networking cards category. Ximhun's retro networking cards lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.

Common buyer scenarios for retro networking cards of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Frequently Asked Questions

Will a Cat 8 cable actually make my internet faster?

Not on its own. The cable supports 40Gbps and 2000MHz, but your real speed is capped by your router port, switch, and ISP plan. It removes the cable as a bottleneck, which matters most on multi-gig or 10GbE home gear.

What lengths does this come in?

Eleven: 3FT, 6FT, 10FT, 15FT, 20FT, 25FT, 30FT, 40FT, 50FT, 60FT, 75FT, and 100FT. Pick the length at checkout.

Can I run this under carpet or through a doorway?

Yes, that is the point of the flat design. It lies flat under carpet and passes through narrow gaps like door frames without the bulge a round cable creates.

Does it work with my PS4 or Xbox?

Yes. Ximhun lists PS4, PS3, and Xbox as supported, along with routers, modems, switches, PCs, and laptops, and the cable is backward compatible with Cat7, Cat6, and Cat5 equipment.

Is this cable rated for outdoor use?

It is listed as a shielded indoor cable, though Ximhun states the jacket withstands direct sunlight, extreme cold, humidity, and heat. For a permanent exterior or buried run, check the product listing for the manufacturer's current outdoor rating.
