Manufacturer description
Excellent legendary EVGA card. I’ve owned this for a long time and taken great care of it in my personal collection. It recently was taken apart, cleaned, and new thermal paste and thermal pads were applied. It passes benchmarks with no issues. Note this is an SSC (super superclocked) model which means it is overclocked and has 112 stream processors (SP’s) increased over the standard 96. This card is also the 640mb vram variant. I have another card listed that is matched to this one and was used for SLI. Check listings for details.
SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS SSC 640mb GDDR2 112sp Graphics Card using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the retro graphics cards category. EVGA's retro graphics cards lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for retro graphics cards of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Prices and stock are set by the retailer and may have moved since this page was last updated.
