SpecPicks Verdict
SpecPicks scored BENFEI HDMI to VGA using a rating × review-volume × price-fit model applied to published specs and reviews across the retro graphics & video category. BENFEI's retro graphics & video lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Judge it on the specification table and the price rather than on sentiment: check the figures that decide your use case, then put it side-by-side with two or three close alternatives in the Compare tool before clicking through.
Common buyer scenarios for retro graphics & video of this kind: matching it to an existing build, replacing a failing part, or upgrading from a previous-generation equivalent. Check the spec table below against your current setup — particularly socket / form-factor / power-rating fields — and confirm compatibility on the retailer's listing before purchase. Frequently Asked Questions
Does this adapter work in reverse, from VGA to HDMI?
No. BENFEI states it is not a bi-directional converter and cannot transmit signals from VGA to HDMI. You need a separate VGA-to-HDMI converter for that direction.
What is the maximum resolution I can get?
Up to 1920x1080 at 60Hz (1080p Full HD). It also supports 720p, 1600x1200, and 1280x1024 for high-definition monitors and projectors.
Do I need anything else to connect my laptop to a VGA projector?
Yes, a VGA cable. The adapter is HDMI male to VGA female, so the VGA cable runs from the adapter to your projector or monitor and is not included.
Will this work with a PS4, Apple TV, or MacBook Pro with Retina Display?
No. BENFEI lists PS4, Apple TV, Mac mini, Retina MacBook Pro, and Blu-ray players as incompatible because of low-power HDMI ports. It does support PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Raspberry Pi, Intel NUC, and Roku.
Is there a warranty on this 20-pack?
BENFEI includes an unconditional 18-month warranty with customer service support. Check the product listing for current terms before purchase.
