Timetec's ssds & storage lineup sits within the broader category mid-tier; price and specs are the deciding factors over brand loyalty here. Frequently Asked Questions

Will this SSD fit my MacBook Air or MacBook Pro?

It is listed for MacBook Air Mid 2013, Early 2014, Early 2015 and Mid 2017; MacBook Pro Late 2013, Mid 2014, Early 2015 and Mid 2015. Timetec also lists exact EMC numbers, such as 2632, 2925 and 3178 for the 13-inch Air, so match the EMC on your machine before ordering.

How fast is the Timetec 512GB MAC SSD?

It is a PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe drive rated for sequential reads up to 2,000MB/s and sequential writes up to 1,500MB/s. Real-world speed on older Macs is also capped by the machine's own PCIe lane count.

Do I need a specific version of macOS before installing it?

Yes. macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later must be installed on the host computer before you fit this SSD, otherwise Timetec states the drive will not work properly.

Can I run Windows through Boot Camp on this drive?

Not on every Mac. Timetec states this SSD is not compatible with Apple Boot Camp on MacBookPro11,1, MacBookAir6,1 or MacBookAir6,2. If a Windows volume is your goal, confirm your model identifier first.

Does it come with the screws and tools needed to install it?

No. The package contains the NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSD only; cables, screws and brackets are not included, so budget for the pentalobe and Torx drivers your Mac requires.
